Welcome to McGettigans

A charming eleven bedroom townhouse right in the heart of Dublin City with our infamous McGettigans bar, a beautiful Irish traditional pub dating back to 1776.

Welcome to the city of Yeats, Joyce, Synge and O’Casey. In the early part of the century you couldn’t go into a public house without bumping into one of them (apart from the famously pub shy Yeats).

Please note our emergency out of hours number is +353 83 2064161 or +353 1 8373544 (if calling please let us know it is in relation to McGettigan's Townhouse)

McGettigan's Townhouse has been recognized in the KAYAK Travel Awards 2022. The award is based on guest reviews so a special thanks to our guests.

This place is an absolute find! We stayed here our first two nights in Ireland, and are so happy we did. Being from the United States, we were a bit confused at first that there was no recognizable lobby or entrance, but once we found our way into the pub, we were greeted in such a friendly manner! We arrived well before we could check in, and they happily let us drop off our bags so we could wander around the city all day before returning. The room was so cozy and charming, so much better than a regular hotel. We got to know the staff a bit, even though only there for a short time, and they made us feel completely at home. By the end, the pub felt like our living room. I would highly recommend this place!!

Staff were very friendly and insightful. Relaxed pub. We were in room Jim which was a good size and well kept / clean. Only things in the room I’d say could add to the experience are a coffee machine and a bigger fridge. Location is marked down as it’s on a very busy road (we know this can’t be helped). Cars passing all through the night and traffic lights right outside our window - must be a lot of fumes coming in. A fitted air con / air filter system would be a good idea for guests who visit in the summer as I personally wouldn’t want to have the windows open all night with that traffic. A positive thing about the location is that it wasn’t too near the centre of the city, meaning noise pollution from people during the night was near non existent. Also very close to the Guiness Brewery (great to stumble back from) and not far from the Jamesons Distillery although we didn’t have time to visit. One other letdown was the pub was shut the day we were checking out, meaning there was no staff we could speak to apart from the cleaner and there was nowhere to leave our luggage for the day. No staff members let us know about this, so it was a bit unexpected and awkward for us. Breakfast was great and again staff were super friendly- thank you for a lovely stay.

Fantastic location near the city centre. Awesome breakfast as well! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The noise in the surrounding area is noticeable during the weekends but the fans drowned the noise out very well. We had no issues sleeping.
